Wires = 3.8 more likely but not definite. BAOR plates. |

Wire wheels were an option for both 3.8- and 3.4-litre 'S'-types. The only way to tell (externally) which is which is by the designation 3.4 or 3.8) on the boot lid. BTW: Can anyone tell me where I can get a DVD of Où es-tu maintenant?Thank you. |

Agreed - but I bet very few 3.4 got wires, so it's a reasonable assumption. Just for the record, did 3.4 and 3.8 have different colour grille badges?? I forget the details but Mk.II used different colours for 2.4/3.4/3.8 - not much use for us as very rare to get views close enough to identify the different colours, but it is a confirmed difference. |

You are correct for the right-hand-drive (rhd) 3.4s, as only 21 of the 126 on the International Jaguar 'S'-type Register have wire wheels. However, all but 2 of the lhd 3.4s on the Register were ordered/bought with wire wheels. Still trying to find a copy of Où es-tu maintenant? ...... |
