Same as the one in the top photo here - http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/ford_v8.htm - British-built I guess but quite different looking to the US models. Model 62 as seen here - http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/FORD%20GB%201937.html |

I think it's the predecessor of the Pilot. |

I guess it should be model origin US and UK built, even though that exact model was not built in the US. |

Strange: it would be the first in the database. |

We have a few more listed under the chassis code [62]: /vehicles_make-Ford_model-V8+22+hp.html |

So maybe could we call this one "V8 22 hp [62]" too? |

The British taxation system charged an annual fee based on the horsepower of the engine. Large horse powers tended to depress sales, so Ford offered smaller engines on certain models, notably the A, B and V-8 cars. Hence the small, gutless 60 brake horsepower offering here, with a 2227 cc 22 taxable horsepower engine as opposed to the 85 brake horsepower 3485 cc 30 taxable horsepower engine, both V-8s. The smaller engine also appeared in France, on the Matford and those depressing Simca things. -- Last edit: 2014-12-29 13:31:35 |
