The initial car destroyed in this release is this old model Renault Espace, though Clarkson has a real dislike for people carriers in general. To turn it into a truly "multi purpose vehicle", the roof is sawed off in order to create that of a convertible people carrier, before it conveniently splits in half as he is driving it. This stunt was of course replicated in Top Gear soon aferwards with their own convertible Espace, although it was much more elaborate with several challenges involved. The vehicle details for G353 ART are: Date of Liability 03 06 2005 Date of First Registration 04 05 1990 Year of Manufacture 1990 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1995CC Fuel Type Petrol Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Manufacturer RENAULT Model ESPACE TXE Body type ESTATE Colour RED Fuel type PETROL Date manufactured 31 December 1990 -- Last edit: 2012-03-30 14:48:32 (G-MANN) |

I remember an old Top Gear episode (early-90s) where Clarkson was testing some people-carriers and at the end says "Personally, I'd rather have a vasectomy than a people-mover, but if you've got a lot of kids, they're fine" I think that's what he said, the funny thing is I was only about 8 or 9 and didn't know what he meant, and my mum went to my dad "Er, you can explain that one to him." |

He has also used that quote to describe a Ford Galaxy. |

G353 ART, isn't the number plate sort of ironic -- Last edit: 2011-10-01 13:20:33 |
