Amphicar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphicar In fact, I think this is the very car in the photo on Wikipedia. It's the same colour, and it has a grey patch above the front wheel where the one on Wikipedia has its registration number (which isn't a Munich number). |

The MA number is for Mannheim. This is the car registration, as a German ship registration looks different: [City/Landkreis] and [number] only - e.g.: MA 123 456 |

Triumph Herald 1.2 lt. engine, lasted in production until 1967(was built by DMW Firm) PS A similar one appears also into"The Avengers"TV-series and 1968 movie"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"(don't confuse that movie with "Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang") |

I wonder if it has been exported to the USA, and re-imported (because of the side-markers) |

Maybe it has these side-markers because this car was more prone to other to cross the ocean and land in USA? ![]() |

![]() ![]() Quite possible that it was re-imported, as of 3.878 Amphicar built 3.046 were exported to the USA. But even those had originally no side markers: ![]() |
