I recall that Autolatina(the joint-venture thru Argentinian and Brazilian Ford/VW production facilities)will build those Escorts also in Argentina PS Escorts made under Autolatina's reign(1986-1996)fits VW(BR)Gol--derived engines -- Last edit: 2007-01-10 21:14:51 |

Well, it is the same model simply made elsewhere I guess, that's what I wanted to mean in my message (i.e. not a model specific to South-America) |

That Escort of the picture was called in Brazil of "Escort 1,8 Guarujá". (Guarujá is the name of a coast city of São Paulo, Brasil). That version was manufactured in Argentina with motor 1800 cm³ by Volkswagen. -- Last edit: 2008-02-01 15:15:59 |

First year in RA was 1988 for the MKIV. The 4 door hatch was built in RA while the 3 door hatch seems to come from Brazil. : Link to "www.carsmagazine.com.ar" RA did not use the Guaruja name as far as I know. I believe this name applied only to Brazil. However, RA seemed to get the 1993-1996 Hobby, which I’m not sure if RA or BR built those. |

Yes, the name Guarujà was used only in BR. RA built this generation until 1994, so I believe later Hobby trim was BR sourced. |
