The continuity of the shots of the truck are very poor in the move. When the truck hits the second vehicle, the MG Midget, the front grill is already badly damaged. Later it is back in place and only the headlight is damaged. Finally at nearly the end of the chase (the main picture) the cab is completely undamaged, and seconds later is completely smashed again before it explodes. Looking at the pictures again probably two trucks were used as the design of the striped areas on the side of the cab is different between some scenes in the movie. -- Last edit: 2007-01-19 15:00:37 |

this truck was most likely a 1982 Ford CLT-9000 bause in the inside it has the orange stripe it also has the round air horns and the thing most that I would say it was a 1982 look at the front bumper it has a little rectangle in the middle of the grill cut out then another piece added for a bumper exteneder or what ever it was called this truck has to be a 1982 unles this truck was wrecked before filming and they picked the truck up for cheap due to an accident & replaced the original bumper with a Bumper that came from a 1982 Ford CLT-9000! I would confirm the year as 1982 until the real paper came up & the owner can tell you! There 3 trucks in the movie from what I here over the internet Truck #1 is the truck that's in the big main picture on top of all our posts & I know that was the truck that survived the movie & was the only one truck srvivied that truck was a '82 Ford CLT-9000 And datsunZ was right on the year Truck #2 was a '78 Ford but it was a CL-9000 not CLT-9000 CL's had the old 5 whole rims this was truck that has the damaged heard and that was smashed the truck was so much smashed to heck that after filming it was Scrapped Truck #3 was a '77 Modified Freightliner cabover that was also scrapped after due to being smahed to heck & exploding into falmes with the only tanker that was used during filming |

My dad drove plenty of these, The Square air horns started for the 1987 and Up Model's, The one's with the Blue Oval's above the grill Started in the Middle of 1980 and Up Model's, This one also had the orange striped Interior which were only available on the 1982-1986 Style's, This one is probably mostly likely was to be an 1986 Model with the two piece front bumper, that's The Year That two piece front Bumper was mostly common one If the truck had round air horns, even started before the 1986 Model, it pretty wasn't popular until the 1986 and Up Model's came out -- Last edit: 2014-10-30 10:11:39 |
