rear gives it away easy (no pun intended) the grill at rear was unique to the A3 version this Chrysler M4 A3 E8 'Sherman' 'Easy Eight' notice same rear and turret , they are also common cos it was the only US version to serve after WW2 , they even served in Korea ![]() /vehicle_25394-Chrysler-M4-A3-E8--Sherman--1944.html -- Last edit: 2015-05-16 10:53:46 |

This style of exhaust grille indicates an M4A2 hull. The grilles on the M4A3 were smaller, so they didn't block the engine access door. The M4A2 had no engine access door. |

^ could you explain with pic highlights ? A2 had different middle grill section on this and the whole grill doesn't go down all the way ![]() also the likelihood of A2 is much much smaller in US location -- Last edit: 2024-10-19 21:03:19 |

You know what, you're right. The overview on Sherman minutia only showed the large armored exhaust deflector for the A3, and the smaller 3-piece deflector for the A3, but searching in the text shows they both had the armored deflector and the A2 had the shorter part in the middle like you said. There are quite a few A2s around, I think they were re-imported from Canada, but this is an A3 yes. |
