![]() ![]() ![]() This sequence a bit confusing as at least 2 craned cars are mixed together, but I think it's same one as these 2 being craned ![]() ![]() |

I think DSL must be having a senior moment with this film. The Scottish crane lorry, and now a 1938 Hillman Fourteen have passed by unrecognised. |

Don't worry - the crane lorry already posted, discussed and ID'd. And I have often confessed my ineptness about pre-war Rootes jewels. So chugging along normally ... |

But the Hillman Fourteen escaped World War 2 and the frog became magically transmogrified into a prince called the Humber Hawk in 1946. It was still the same gutless rot box underneath, however. |

Yaketi-yak, yeah. But when comes the time to show real knowledge, /vehicle_814853.html … nobody! |

I didn't see that because I have been away on holiday. Link to "www.google.co.uk" Definitely the Vauxhall, two bold chrome stripes along the bonnet side, so Yah-booh-sucks. Less than five minutes, including making sure it wasn't a Big Six, checking an image in the book, and finding a suitable image for proof. -- Last edit: 2015-05-21 21:54:03 |

The main photo, and the top three in the first post, look to me like a Flying Standard Ten - compare http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/standard-car.htm for the one-piece rear window, boot mounted spare and especially the double "moulding" line below the side windows, with the lower line wrapping round the rear quarter window. The car being lifted by the crane in the right-hand "crane" photo looks to me like the one on the ground in the right foreground of the left-hand "crane" photo - perhaps a 1936-7 Hillman Minx "Magnificent", going by the shape of the radiator shell and of the windscreen - cf. http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/H/hillman%201936%20minx.jpg from the Classic Car Catalogue ( http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/HILLMAN%201936.html ). -- Last edit: 2015-07-10 00:16:26 |
