Another Pathe DVD compilation of archive clips - this one trawling through their Austin collection. Five complete short films (about 10 minutes each):
- Austin Festival Review (1951)
- I Am A Car (1954)
- Making The Most Of It (1956)
- Return Journey (1957), and
- The Incredible Seven (1961).
Each of these will be entered as stand-alone films with their own pages.

Plus 4 bonus short films (about 2 minutes each) from newsreels, the contents all included on this movie page:

- Thatched Car (1950) here and here - entered as Extra1 in Episode box,
- Baby Austin Grows Up (1955) here and here - entered as Extra2,
- Rust In Peace (1963) here and here - entered as Extra3, and
- Fire Engine Mascot (1964) here and here - entered as Extra4.

Thatched Car (1950) has an even stranger sequel on Pathe as Thatched Car (1964) - bloke buys a 1949 Allard for £15 but could not afford the £40 for a replacement hood, so he thatched it ....

..... sometimes I am still amazed by the total stupidity of people. TC (1964) not on this DVD so sadly I can't justify a page for the Allard. Also sadly OVW 625 has disappeared - nothing on check sites and not recorded by owners club. Its owner probably decided to continue his creative efforts by replacing the steering wheel with a giant meringue and crashed it.

Baby Austin Grows Up (1955) is a report on the Austin Golden Jubilee 50th Anniversary celebrations at Longbridge

... http://www.austinmemories.com/page166/page166.html has extra info and pictures.

Rust In Peace (1963) is a report on scrap cars in Reading (and not really about Austin at all), and Fire Engine Mascot (1964) is set at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk when it was used as a USAF base.

50/- = £2.50, so in those days you could buy a car for the price now of a small jar of Marmite. 7/6d = £0.37 = about the cost today of a Mars Bar.

Another from Rust In Peace

I gave it a page thinking maybe Victor [F] but
electra225 wrote I rather suspect a BMC Farina.

johnfromStaffs wrote Definitely not a Victor F, look at the windscreen, the wrap around knee crusher is not there. Farina undoubtedly.

Too many possibilities for secure ID, so page abandoned.

... provided there's a proper DVD, it should be OK. I'm finding them on Amazon fairly cheaply for about the windscreen price of a secondhand banger in 1963 (as above) ....
