No trace of JYN 17D, but genuine Jan 66 London plate. |

This used to be my father's car back in the 1970's. Would love to know if it's still on the road. |

This exact DB6 with this exact plate or just a DB6? |

This exact car! It was our family car and there were 3 of us kids in the back! My dad regrets he ever sold it but just wasn't suitable for a growing family |

The plate JYN 17D has disappeared from record. If it was still in use in 1980s, the plate would normally show something. So probably either (i) the car has died too - scrapped/crashed/stolen/stripped for parts, (ii) it's been re-registered - a new cherished plate?? or (iii) it's been exported. Or as a real long-shot, it might have been made into a historic racecar. If you know the chassis number or VIN plate, any new identity might be traceable ... |

Will have to do some digging into dad's old paperwork, see if he still has anything relating to the car. I know it was in great condition when he sold it which would have probably been late 1970's or very early 1980's |

I think we were probably the first owners of this car. I recall collecting it from the mail dealers in Leeds in 1966. It had been registered as their demonstrator but had only a few hundred miles on the clock. The car had a Vantage engine and could really drink petrol compared to the DB5s we had owned before. The car had problems with the paint and sills. The sills corroded through very quickly and were replaced with stainless steel ones. The car was fully resprayed using Ford acrylic which was a much harder finish. I drove the car many times. We had a weekend retreat but the car couldn't manage the the 180 mile round trip on a tank. In 1970 the engine broke a timing chain and valves hit pistons. Aston repaired the engine at no cost. We sold the car with around 30K on the clock to a careing butcher who used it to deliver meat. I know it did big mileage and whenever I saw it the car did not look well. I last saw the car around 1972. |
