Old bumpers, no Wolfsburg badge, one-piece door windows. It has to be a Split Window, made made before April 1951. A view of the cowl area could narrow down an early 1951, but anyway a 1949-51 VW Limousine? (Somehow I think it was just called Folkevogn back then - it was just one model. Can't verify an early Norwegian name though, sold as Limousine in Sweden 1952, Sedan in Denmark 1955) When did the nickname Boble start to appear? Yes, but that's what they were called. Even today, the word Folkevogn refers to the VW Typ 1, and nothing else. Volkswagen is Volkswagen - the make itself. |

Translated only in the English meaning. In German "Limousine" is the name for a Sedan. The term "Sedan", also "Berline" or "Berlina" are unknown. "Berlina" was only used for some luxoury Opel-trim lines in the 70ies and 80ies. checking Wiki, it seems, that "Limousine" is only in German with this meaning. Try the other languages on the left bar at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limousine Hmm, I find "Limuzina" in Bosnian and Croatian, but nowhere else, not even in Dutch, Danish and Swedish, which are, as Norwegian, from the same language stock. "Sedan" in German was known for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedantag - but it's totally forgotten nowadays, only people with a premium knowledge about history are able to know about it. |

You shouldn't trust Wikipedia as your only source. Sweden and Finland Typ1, the Dutch use both Sedan and Limousine (Well the text says something like 'There are to types of Limousine, Standaard and Deluxe' so Limousine was the Typ1 model name here, Sedan being the class) So you should consider the fact that Limousine in VW names are not the type of car (originally it just meant a closed car) but the model made by VW (with a capital L) |

So, what's about 'Folkevogn'? I think it deserves to be part of type, not just extra info. 50s advertisments use simply 'VW Folkevogn' brand/type, but we can't. We need some compromise and still I think 'Volkswagen / Folkevogn Limousine' is not bad sample. Lateef, we have such (stupid at first glance) brand & type combinations such 'Land Rover / Range Rover', 'Willys-Overland / Aero Willys' or van 'Alfa Romeo / Romeo Autotutto', because we must think about easy searching too. With 'Volkswagen / Folkevogn' newbie users won't find early Norvegian typ 1 samples. |

If we can't list them as "VW Folkevogn" (I don't see why not BTW - as we have VW Sedans listed here too) - "VW Limousine Folkevogn" makes more sense than "VW Folkevogn Limousine" - take it from a Norwegian. License plate seems to be a Swedish Z-plate, Z69xx. Z = Jämtlands län. In that case the nickname should be 'Folkvagn', 'Folka' or 'Bubbla'. Or is it a Norwegian Vestfold plate? |
