Sedan or coupe? |

With the exception of 1967, when a convertible was offered, the Grand Prix was only available as a coupe. That changed for model year 1990, when the 4-door arrived. Anyway, the pic shows a 1971 or 72 Catalina, the lower prized full size series (there were Bonneville and Grand Villes above it). I don't know if there was a Catalina convertible. Surely, there were 4-door and 2-door sedans, and a Safari Estate (Station Wagon). Grand Safaris shared front sheet metal with Bonnevilles / Grand Villes. |

This is a 1969-70 Grand Prix. In 69 the Grand Prix moved from the B-body chassis to the mid-size one. Only sold as a Coupe http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/pont6902.htm |

Thanks car nerd... Also the picture of the Le Mans /vehicle_91692-Pontiac-Le-Mans.html confirms it as a coupé. -- Last edit: 2007-03-05 23:57:55 |

I believe I remember from 1969 that it used the G-body (being a stretched A-body) but Wikipedia only has the G-body starting in 1982? Anyway I know internally at GM the G-body and the H-body were live programs before 1970 when I lost contact with the US car divisions. |

That does sound correct, sunbar. If I remember correctly, the original Monte carlo utilized the same platform. |

yep it was. Same with the A bodies in the 70s and then the G bodies, and even the W bodies. ![]() |

69 has a horizontal grille pattern, 70 is vertical. |
