On the right Chevrolet Vega or compact Ford? |

Definitely no Chevy Vega or sibling Pontiac Astre. Either a Ford Maverick or a Mercury Comet. |

No, it's a Chevrolet Vega. Pontiac didn't make the Astre back then. |

I do not agree. Chevy Vega has single tail lights, and the brown car on the pic surely has twin. Pontiac Astre appeared for 1975, but that does not matter. It had completely different tail lights: singe, square, much bigger and ribbed. |

Actually, as you can see, a Chevy Vega actually has twin rear lights, while the Maverick had single lights. Vega: http://barkbarkwoofwoof.blogspot.com/Chevy%20Vega%2012-05-05.jpg Maverick: http://www.fordmaverick.com/articles/mave71c.jpg |

Not a Maverick. Not even close. Having owned one, I can safely say this is a Vega/Astre. |

O yeah, a Vega, in a typical yellow orange color |

1971-73 Vega. The Pontiac Astre was first sold in Canada in 1973 and only available in US market from 1975-. |

Convinced. Never before saw one like this. Sorry for the irritation... |
