I would not call it a 2a serie, because only the 1980+ cars ( with plastic bumpers ) are considered 2a serie. |

1st series, therefore 5m, not Super. |

Actually in Italy we call 1980 m.y. Alfasud Berlina as Alfasud 3a serie,'cause: --1971 to 1977:1a serie( Berlina 4-doors 1.2-then N=Normale=basic--plain bumpers,1.2 L=Lusso=luxe--bumpers with overriders;since 1973 fits brake-servo pump;since 1976 fits a new 5-speed gearbox that replaces old 4-speed unit--models with that gearbox add 5-m at name) --1977 to 1980:2a serie(apparently still 1a serie outside,but was 2a serie for new Super trim and 1.3 and 1.5 engines intro.on Berlinas since that series),slightly restyled(Berlina 4-doors 1.2 N basic,1.3 or 1.5 Super--luxe trim that replaces L--initially 1.5 Super destined only at foreign markets,like UK,CH,D-plain bumpers,overriders definitively removed) --1980 to 1983:3a serie,face-lifted(Berlina 4-doors,5-doors since 1982;1.2 basic,"Junior"since 1982,1.3 or 1.5,Quadrifoglio Oro--new luxury trim--1.5 since 1982;limited edition"by Valentino"--stylist inside/outside with that fashion griffe--only 1980-1981 years marketed--matt black grille with plastic bumpers,enlarged tail lights) -- Last edit: 2007-03-06 23:49:54 |

From what I know, the fact of having the slight restyle ( that includes the rubber-faced chrome bumper ) doesn't imply the designation 2a serie. I would say this is a 1977 Alfasud Super 1a serie. http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Alfasud |

Is it useful to mention the "series" number of these cars anyway? if these are only small changes, the year should be enough. The series/mk field was initially for cars where the name is kept accross different models, like recent Renault, VW, etc. |

It has the 1977 bumpers, yes, but the wheel trims and lack of black plastic C-pillar grille tells of one of the last 5m models. But I could be mistaken, it has been 20 years since I owned my 5m! Of the Alfasuds I have owned, not all came off the production line with the same fittings for the 'year' - it became a bit of a joke with other Alfasud owners which 'new' bits they got and which they didn't - meaning lots of 'intermediate' models |

My 5m was sold new with UK 'S' registration, making it registered August 1977 – July 1978. It didn't have the 1977 bumpers or rear grille. |
