left a late Renault 6, right an Opel Manta B. The R6 is much more rare.

Manta? For me it looks like a selfmade Ascona B Convertible

ingo is right. Congratulations. In the beginning I hadn't watched it so well and I was thinking about a Ford Capri III.

A R6 would be more rare than a Manta B Convertible???

"Selfmade" is a bit misleading, though. You bought the material and the know-how, written down on 34 pages of instructions of how to convert your Ascona. Cabrio Design Ostermann-Germer of Kürten, Germany, offered these kits for a variety of makes and models back in the day.

These guys were doing some wild custom beetles back in the 80s https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostermann_(Automarke)

No no @993cc, that was 'Speedster Ostermann', later 'Ostermann GmbH' of Osnabrück. Ostermann-Germer was a different company, even though some of their offered products overlapped.

993cc wrote Man, 0 out 2! Thats why for my edits I always try to find info beyond the various wiki pages. Meanwile I read in German wiki that there was a 3rd Ostermann company that did conversions back in the 50s (if they're right..).

I hardly ever use Wikipedia for my coachbuilder research, because it's full of errors and misconceptions. I didn't know of a third Ostermann, but a relation between that 1950s' Ostermann and Ostermann GmbH of Osnabrück appears quite likely to me, particularly as they were about 70 km apart and both appeared to have a deeper connection to Volkswagen. As long as I haven't seen any publication of that very company (advertisement, brochure, anything from their archives), I can only speculate - while trying to correct other speculation that's out there.

In any case, there appears to be no relation between the aforementioned Ostermanns and Ostermann-Germer, who look to be responsible for the Ascona B seen above. :)

Thanks @AleX_DJ, much appreciated! :) I already used it yesterday when I checked all our Ascona convertibles on the site, inspired by your recent find. While these convertibles are an acquired taste for my IMCDb research, even my core interest has a fair share, because of all the Karosseriefabrik Voll stuff.
