Rigs has a new GMC Sierra in every movie! and in this movie he brings down a house with it (shameless promotion!) -- Last edit: 2007-09-03 07:30:06 |

Re: shameless promotion, there's even a scene with part of a GMC ad on t.v. Notice that most of the main vehicles are G.M. in the series? Murtaugh's Olds, Leo Getz's Cadillac or Yukon, etc. |

I dont care what you say i just love that truck personly this one is the best GM truck that Mel Gibson used in the whole series and i have seen this movie plenty of times and the truck shoud gett 4 stars it was used from start to finish of the movie it litrely brought down the house butt i still wonder how Martin Rigs can afore all those brand new GM trucks in every movie i gues that he actuly gott the Psycho pension and somehow kept his job in the LAPD but who cares it was the 1980s people did not think they just watched Awsome action movies like this one -- Last edit: 2009-10-08 22:22:35 |

Neptune, these were also called Extended Cabs back then, correct? |
◊ 2009-10-07 06:18 |
"Club Cab" was Dodge’s cab name. GMC chose "Club Coupe", while Chevy chose "Extended Cab". Some time during the mid ‘90s GMC changed the Club Coupe name to "Extended Cab" to match Chevrolet. I think it was around 1995, but I have yet to find a GMC sales brochure or literature to prove it. I am still actively looking though, when I have free time. |

This was a 1988-1989 model:![]() ![]() |

Someone changed the year on this one. How can it be narrowed down to a 1989 model? |
◊ 2011-12-23 22:49 |
I think it was made a 1989 because of the fact that it is a "promotional" vehicle in a 1989 movie. But, I agree, visually, this truck could just as well be a 1988. |

Fair enough I suppose. |

This had the 454 7.4L big block V8, right? |

The scene where Riggs pull the South Africans house made me want one of these. |

yes, but the scene is a little ... exaggerated .... |

◊ 2018-02-01 18:19 |

You don't see these trucks anymore. Its sad. Its a bad ass truck. Wish I had one. Hope Mel Gibson drives a GMC dually in Lethal Weapon 5 that will be coming out!!! |

I had watched the movie again, this truck is so badass... If only GM would be the sponsor again... |

Riggs' truck, he has it again in LW3, but by LW4 he replaces it. All GMC trucks. |

This has to be a C-3500 because the K-3500 Big Dooley did not exist on the [GMT480] chassis until 1992 when the R/V-Series stopped production. I have pulled 1988-1992 brochures and DRW were not available on the K-3500 until 1992. 1988: Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com" 1989: Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com" 1990: Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com" 1991: Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com" 1992: Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com" |

@89GMC dually. Can you confirm the VINs 10th digit? Is it a J or K? Basically a 1988 or 1989 ? We use the oldest possible year here on the site if the plate data is unavailable. We can adjust the listing to confirm a 1989 though if you can prove that detail for us. I tried to check the plate in the pictures but there isn't any data for 2HLO430 on any of the sites. |
