Waldegaard's winning car on 1977 Safari, STW 201R - registered March 1977, an RS 1800 2-litre. This was its only event and was kept by Ford as an exhibition car. However another works RS 1800 with same STW 201R plates was built in 1978 and used in 3 events (1978 1000 Lakes Mikkola ret'd, 1979 Swedish Milkkola 5th, 1979 Cyprus Vatanen winner) and then sold on. /vehicle_791060-Ford-Escort-RS-1800-1977.html has full story. |

These works cars were all built up by the factory FAVO workshop in Essex. Works drivers could request RHD or LHD according to personal preference. And some cars even switched during their apparent histories, especially if reshelled or rebuilt. |
