![]() ![]() Taken from ![]() If War Should Come - vol 3 (1939-41) of 3 BFI compilation DVD sets of shorts from The GPO Film Unit. 22 minute film of London preparing for the onset of war just before and after the Declaration. Very interesting range of organised things going on from very significant preparation (mining sand in huge quantities for sandbags, evacuating kids and families, enlisting) to unexpected trivial (evacuating pets). Lots of trains footage as well. http://www.screenonline.org.uk/film/id/999892/index.html , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuVMq0HDp7U I got the impression that it mixes new GPO Unit footage with some bits from elsewhere/other sources - some small changes in quality and style occasionally show. Shown in cinemas across UK and maybe overseas, probably to reassure everyone that London would still carry on. Planes for impdb - unsorted jumble, but this is the sequence they appear in the film ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
