Successor John Le Carre book and TV series to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. imdb lists locations as London, Nottingham (using then disused railway bridge as stand-in for "West German" checkpoint), Bern and Thun (Switzerland), Paris. No German location listed on imdb but a lot of eps 3 & 4 take place in Hamburg, Lübeck and places in between, as confirmed by cl82. This is genuine film shot at the end of a pan across from Smiley's Opel

See the Opel page for more place identifications.

Finale at "West German checkpoint" is Lady Bay Bridge, Nottingham - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Bay_Bridge , Link to "www.bbc.co.uk" .

Ep 5 from 30-00 gas a 5 minute sequence of the orange Volvo 245 driving through the diplomatic district of Bern and is packed full of 1* backgrounds seen from inside the car. Have picked out a few - here's some more:

[Image: boots.gif] SPECIAL SAAB COLLECTION [Image: loki8.gif]

2 or 3 door 99 with black grille and chrome bumpers. I don't think there was any other visible Saab anywhere.

Lesser cars:
- a big LWB Cadillac

- a 4 door Chevette (not Kadett)

These can all get pages if anyone really wants, but no better views possible.

Looks like 1973/74 SAAB 99L. I doubt that is the 3 door version due to unique rear faux vent apart from 2/4 door version.
