Yet another taxi used by Smiley - somewhere around Hamburg and Lübeck

It must be a diesel because it sounds like one AND there's a great big D on the bootlid. 1st thumb has a long sequence of interior shots looking out to blurry parked cars. I watched it twice to look for ingocars but there were none.

Those "stripey" headlights where originally a sign of an upmarket W 123, but became standard fittings from somewhere in the early 80's. That was at least in Sweden, I don't know of other markets.

can we say 300 D with the rectangular headlights and the chrome under the taillights or was that taken for the late 240 D, too?

It has 1976-1979 seats.

Taxis in Germany were mostly 200 D or 240 D. The 300 D was to expnsive. Will be a late 240 D.
I drove one for 700.000 km.

Is "1976 240 D" really correct? :??: AFAIK back in the first years only the 280 E had the chrome under the taillights!

Diesel soundtrack.

Of course a Diesel, as it's a taxi (an obvious original one), noone used the -terrible thirsty- 280 E (or the worse thirsty 250) as a taxi. So 280 E is wrong here. I just want to point out, that "1976 240 D" is wrong, because it isn't one.
"1980 300 D" would rather fit.

Are you sure about that? Doesn't seem to have the batwing headrests that were in use until 1979. It has the square headrest starting in 1980.

Yes, I am. Just look at the front passenger seat on 2rd thumbrial.

So, by elimination, 1976+ 300D as the only possibility???

 According Wiki,
*quote*

only the 300 TD Turbodiesel had the chrome-trims under the taillights, not the 300 D.

It's strange car mixing elements used in different years.
I suppose repaired after minor (front / pile-up?) collision.
