Morons trying to use some compact I-4 to outrun a V-8 police package are amusing. |

I love this show |

@ Owlman: are you sure that your pictures are in the correct series? For what I know this series is filmed in the US, but yor picture seems from a movie filmed in Russia... |
◊ 2010-08-01 14:44 |
Cops is a documentary series, so maybe there's an episode about police work in Russia. Or maybe there's a Russian franchise version. -- Last edit: 2010-08-01 14:46:30 |

COPS has done a few episodes overseas. Those captures were from two episodes filmed in Russia. There was also an episode I once saw filmed in Hong Kong, and I think they did at least one in the UK. Sorry for the confusion ![]() |

Don't worry, in this case it's all ok ![]() |

I LOVE THIS SHOW.2 reasons:1,I get to see cities Ill probably never get around to visiting, and 2,the early episodes have TONS of old and often rare cars. There was an old episode from San Diego where a lady was getting arrested for drugs. She was driving a Datsun B210 and at the beginning you can see my favorite-a Gremlin-passing by in the background. There was also one from Colorado where a guy was filling a Grem up at a gas pump in the background. I used to see an episode all the time from southern California where a river was flooded, and an idiot attempted to cross in a an ultra-rare late-70s Buick Opel. |
◊ 2010-08-02 01:39 |
lol, I was JUST watching that episode. But I didn't notice a Gremlin. Was it prominently visible? |
◊ 2010-08-02 06:50 |
No, it was driving by in the background. Not prominent enough. Those old episodes, especially from Western regions, feature some extremely rare or unusual cars though. Id love to see if anyone can locate and post the episode from either philadelphia or Pittsburgh where the cops were chasing a stolen Dodge Colt! The episode I think they show the most is from Cleveland, where they chase a stolen Nissan Sentra, which gets completely totalled. |

Does anyone know of an authoritative episode guide for COPS? Many webpages I find have conflicting or missing information. I'd like to upload more episodes (there are 10+ random episodes a week shown here on local tv) but without a proper list I don't know what to do. |

Adding one of two London special episodes, #3.37 <---(confirm episode number, some sites say 3.39)![]() Royal family members in '91... ![]() ![]() With Polish pres Lech Wałęsa: ![]() -- Last edit: 2010-08-03 08:23:13 (ford_guy) |

I don't see the Plymouth Gran Fury, which was very prominent in the first season. |
◊ 2013-01-05 05:38 |
I love this show. Its cool seeing rare and unusual cars parked in the background of the old episodes, especially in areas those cars are now very rare (like seeing all the 70s cars in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh). I imagine it will be difficult to add entries because it might be hard to get episode numbers, and there will be a disproportionate number of similar police cars. I'd love to see it added to.what kind of criteria should be used on what cars to include and what kind of compromises in terms of similar police cruisers? |
◊ 2013-01-07 00:10 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1L1APOGhLI I don't know the episode number. Driver flees from the police after a traffic stop. He's in a Nissan Altima, which plays a significant role in the segment. |
◊ 2013-10-21 01:14 |
It seems we have a very large gap here - there are no cars at all from seasons 4 thru 19. Is anyone going to add these? |
◊ 2013-11-02 06:44 |
I doubt it. It's a difficult show to do, both for the reasons that G-MANN stated and there would be no fair way to organize all of the police cars. I'd say the best thing to do is to just add the "action" vehicles or the rarer police vehicles. |

I still think it's very sad that this show has been going since 1989, yet there is not *one* 1991-1996 Chevy Caprice on this page at all. ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-11-21 11:48:01 |

Woah, 1997 Crown Vic still being used in 2013 in Stockton CA:![]() 16 years old!! Incredible. I'm guessing they never film using these old cars because it would be too embarrassing to let viewers see that they're still in use! -- Last edit: 2013-11-24 12:42:07 |
◊ 2013-11-24 14:37 |
My local department still has several of those pre-'98 Crown Vics, and a Dodge van from the mid-'80s. If they work, they work. ![]() |
◊ 2013-11-24 18:11 |
Stockton municipality wasn't in bankruptcy last year? Perhaps this is all what they can afford... ![]() Also, what is the problem with giving old vehicles to police? I don't known crime rate there, but sometimes a new car can be worse than the previous one (e.g. the Alfa 159 was criticized, in comparison with the Fiat Marea...) |

Still ruled by the Polizei Düsseldorf: Link to "www.lokalkompass.de" and by the Polizei Neumünster: http://files.bos-fahrzeuge.info/vehicles/photos/a/8/0/0/99608-large.jpg Yes, they have official police-registrations. But of course they weren't used for the patrol service. Outside the patrol service several police-units in Germany still used vehicles from the 80ies and 90ies, for example /vehicle_271022-Kassbohrer-Setra-S-215-HD-1983.html |

By the way for future reference, all of the 1-star cars I've added are not background vehicles in the usual sense, but they are all related to the story in some way. I don't give them 2 stars because they're either not shown in a pursuit or being pulled over, or they're not shown with anyone in them (just parked). In the event that a clean up of this page is done in future, please don't delete the 1-star cars I've added (I can't speak for the 1-stars added by others, though). -- Last edit: 2014-09-28 18:12:02 |

Flint, Michigan are still using pre-2007 Tahoes in 2019! These cars would be at least 13 years old by now:![]() By the way, season 31 of COPS is the first season where there are no Crown Victorias at all in any episode. Are they all gone now? EDIT: Crown Vic just featured in one episode of season 32! Can't believe they're still being used in 2019. Edit: season 35 (2024) and we have yet another Crown Vic: ![]() -- Last edit: 2024-04-22 10:18:19 |

I've found clips like this one of LAPD still using 1987-89 Caprices in 1995, so I suppose it isn't too unusual. |

@MisterZ Upper Darby PA 19082 still has some 2006-2011 models in service. Mainly K-9 units. But they still exist; although seldom seen anymore. I captured on my phone a 2006-2008 model blocking traffic about a month ago. |

here the provincial police has in their convention a part saying that a police car should be replaced after 6 years or 200,000 kms ( around 125,000 miles ) but i don't know if its same for the cities ( might be, i did not saw a Crown Vic in service for a while now ) |

I saw a 1998 Kansas City episode that had a 1987-90 Chevrolet Caprice which made me wonder why are they using an old police car in a late 1990's episode of COPS. |
