this series is really strange in terms of cars !!! suppsoed to be set around early 90s yet a LOT of 50s cars on the streets

Ok I submited all relevant vehicles

small review of the show:
- has high production values
- Writing is pretty mature with lots of deaths , so it's NOT a kids show !!!
- LOTS and LOTS of 50s cars

So is this worth getting on DVD ?? Answer : ABSOLUTLY !!!!

I'd say they were aiming for a stylised "timeless" setting, rather like how Tim Burtons' Batman films mixed 1930s costumes and architecture with modern cars.

on some episodes they mentioned clearly that it's 1991 but I guess you're right, the show seemed to have a more edgy and dark atmosphere like Batman . Personally I quite enjoyed specially to see those 50 cars so abundent among modern ones. IMO the traffic split was something like 50/50

Well, they blew up that beautiful DS, so no... :D

More seriously, I've only seen the pilot (the rest will follow), so I can't judge it yet, but the pilot did look exceptionally good, so I agree, the production values are terrific. I also never argue with Amanda Pays and the late, great M. Emmet Walsh was an unexpected surprise, though he had nothing to do. However, I hated hated hated the villain, your standard-order brainless, paper-thin cliché of every cheap 80s action flick. This was doubly annoying given the time and details they gave to Barry's transformation into Flash. He deserved a better villain.

the first few episodes are more ordinary mob villains but around episode 8 "Ghost in the Machine" they start to add supervillains , 2nd season half was much better !!

^ there is a problem with episode numbers, as so often with season 1 of shows...

namely IMDB used the first episode after Pilot as episode 1 and so results in 21 episodes
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098798/episodes/?ref_=tt_eps_sm

wiki used Pilot as episode 1 and so we have 22 episodes list
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flash_(1990_TV_series)#Episodes

as it is now after pilot and first episode it's number after wiki list , which means all those entries have to be put down a number if you want after imdb one

^ Thanks, I noticed that. Pilot and Out of Control were already listed here as 1.00 and 1.01, but the rest is as you say (no episode 1.02 because it's 1.03). It's not the first show with such an issue here as IMDb does change episode orders as it sees fit. As we link to IMDb, I suppose I should go with their numbering as I update the episodes.

Not only does IMDb not list said Adam West in the cast for this episode (it lists someone named 'Awest' instead), it's referring to this guy who is about as much Adam West of Batman (62 years old at the time) as John Wesley Shipp is JFK.

The Trickster returns and the lovely Corinne Bohrer (as Prank) helps him :)

If you enjoyed The Flash some other short lived but good unique TV shows from that period you may enjoy binge watching later.

- Max Headroom, 14 episodes, unique 80s cyberpunk where TV is absolutely dominating life , this was shot in real 29.97 FPS, Amanda Pays also costars, this got her the role as Tina without even auditioning.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDN0BFGW9Ro

- Street Hawk , 13 episodes, at first glance Knight Rider on bike but IMO much better show and more mature (you have onscreen deaths unlike KR). Stunt work very solid, Rex Smith IMO also a better actor than the Hoff and superb Tangerine Dream soundtrack, the only downside episode quality is all over the place some very solid and some bad ones
best ones 2 (A Second self) and 4 (Vegas Run) , worst ones 3 and 5 , rest are in-between, "The Arabian" is weird script makes absolutely NO sense but everything else about that episode was good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c_-KvMTOOc

- Captain Power and the Soldiers of The Future , 80s cyberpunk, at first glance a kids show but it's much more than that 22 episodes but they were just 20 min so actually 11 episodes , amazing what they did when the very limited CGI of time, this really screams for a remake !! also real 29.97 FPS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUYesRQsDz8

- Timecop , just 9 episodes, good episodes "Alternate World" and "DOA" , episodes aired out of order prematurely cancelled unfortunately
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuVMNnyFTcM

- Firefly , 14 episodes and cinema film "Serenity" , HUGE cult following, space western, pilot rather slow but it picks up pace next episodes

Updated episode 1.21, and added a couple of surprising omissions. This basically completes the series. Whew!

Here are two bonusmobiles for the price of one:

If you try hard enough, I think you can just see a blurry Jaguar somewhere in this pic:

If you want to confuse Google Lens, just drop this image into it and select the yellow car, it'll come up with all kinds of Nissans, and odd Buick, but not one Ford:

And, to finish things off, a double bonus especially for mike962, the lovely (but mad) Prank and a just as lovely model of a firetruck:

As someone who really doesn't like superhero comic books, or movies based thereon, I did enjoy this series a lot, occasionally lobotomized writing and lapses of logic notwithstanding. The casting director did a very good job with the main cast (I'd never heard of John Wesley Shipp, but I think he's an ideal Barry/Flash), and the obvious studio backlot sets and the oddball mixture of cars added that perfect "unreal" feeling to it. Some of the effects may look hilariously dated, but I found the obvious lack of CGI very refreshing and most welcome. Indeed, it's a shame the show only lasted one season. Perhaps they blew up too many cars...

As for the other shows mentioned by mike962, I remember Max Headroom very fondly (and bitterly, since it was cancelled so soon). I didn't watch Firefly, but I remember the uproar when it was cancelled. I don't know the other shows, but some years ago I tuned into some new shows, I really liked the lot, but all of them were cancelled no later than six episodes in. I haven't tuned into a new TV series since, and I'm also not sure I want to check out one cancelled before it started properly since I don't want to find that I really like it, but with so little of it to enjoy...

"The Adventures of Brisco County Jr."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oI-nfeDtWc

western with Sci-fi steampunk elements it has some wacky humor too, Bruce Campbell was great in it, 27 episodes, the 2 main plotlines from pilot do get resolved but one is an obvious blatant retcon regarding main badguy Bly (Billy Drago), quite high production values for TV
