Thumbnail No. 6 - 13: The hearse breaks the 4th wall by crashing the opening credits of the movie. This was my own car & I participated in the filming on set by playing the nihilists' hearse driver and doing all the driving and stunt driving scenes.

Filming took place in Luxemburg and Germany over a period of about two years.

 @Animatronixx Nice car. And I really like the colour and the wheels but the Vauxhall badges are somehow very inappropriate... What happened to it and do you know in which condition it is? And I guess the plate was real?

 @Mystery Man: Thanks! :) The car had already been red (OP 501 Royalrot) when I bought it from the Rappold used car lot in 1997. The wheels came from a Rekord D, the hubcaps from a Rekord C. The Vauxhall badging was part of my customizing ideas back then (we also see an aftermarket roof rail taken from a Ford Granada Turnier, moldings from a 1958 Cadillac, mood lights from a 1978 Cadillac, badges from a Chevrolet Caprice Classic, a magnetic Pilato cross on the roof etc.). The hearse was my daily driver for approx. seven years, then I sold it via Berlin to Munich in 2004 (filming was way earlier than the movie release!). I saw my "Carlchen" (friends called it that) offered for sale again about 2 years ago, but apparently it was in pretty bad shape by then. I lost track, but I hope it still exists somewhere. And yes, the plate was the real one. ;)

 Still with us... sort of. :/

19 years after I had traded it in for another hearse, it's currently for sale for € 1.500,-.

Verkäufer wrote Motor läuft,hat eine H-Abnahme, Leider nicht mehr im besten Zustand, Stand leider eine Weile draußen und das Spritzvinyldach ist gerostet,zum Teil schon abgemacht Dome und wahrscheinlich Weiteres müssen geschweißt werden, nichts zum reinsetzen und eilige Bestattungen machen Steht seit ein paar Jahren

Looked even worse before we rebuilt it, so hopefully somebody takes care of it again.

I wrote Just watched this movie - and I had no idea! :wow:

Basically a road movie, featuring a [*][*][*][*][*] red (!) hearse (which is clearly a former hearse, not used professionally any more) with a noticeable roof rail and cream-colored drapes and various crosses and palm leaves on it. Crazy driving throughout the movie with the hearse, which also works as a symbol for the opposite of naive Christianity. There are constantly people sitting in the rear compartment and they talk to the drivers through the window in the partition wall while en route.

Sounds familiar? Not to me - at least not until the very end of the movie, when I read the credits and found out the movie was co-produced by Bernard Michaux - and suddenly it all made sense. :wow:

Bernard and I had been working together on The Plot Spoiler over a period of several months between 2003 and 2004. He was the guy who filmed most of the action scenes of my hearse with me driving it back then and can be seen in the behind-the-scenes pictures I once posted. "The Plot Spoiler" is sort of a road movie, featuring a [*][*][*][*][*] red (!) hearse (which is clearly a former hearse, not used professionally any more) with a noticeable roof rail and cream-colored drapes and various crosses and palm leaves on it. Crazy driving throughout the movie with the hearse, which also works as a symbol for the opposite of naive Christianity. There are constantly people sitting in the rear compartment and they talk to the drivers through the window in the partition wall while en route. Now, let that sink in... Can you imagine how I almost fell of my chair when I realized this connection?

If you know both movies, you can even spot various cinematographic references to "The Plot Spoiler", even if this movie tells a completely different story. I have no doubt: This movie car was largely inspired by my old Opel Rekord hearse and certainly is some sort of dedication. :)
