No idea where this came from. Alfasuds never made in Greece. -- Last edit: 2020-04-16 01:30:40 |

I've idea where: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emporiki_Autokiniton However, the source doesn't claim Alfasud assembly literally. |

There is no mention on hellenic motor history blog ( a very thorough blog about automotive industry in Greece, btw ) that Alfa's were ever assembled in Greece; it's only mentioned in the blog that 33 was assembled in Greece for a while. From february 1962 to 1984, Alfa's in Greece were distributed by MOTOR HELLAS. http://hellenicmotorhistory.blogspot.com/search?q=alfa+romeo -- Last edit: 2020-04-16 02:44:30 |

My incomplete set of World Cars has claims for Sud builds in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, ZA, Aus and Malta but no mention of Greece. There was also from a different source some 1960s Alfa Giulia builds in Ireland and the text mentions Suds, but in an ambiguous way which suggests Sud builds might have happened. Or might not. However, weasel is rarely wrong and may yet be able to pull the necessary rabbit from the hat to surprise us all. But bear in mind he also believes in mermaids .... |

Yes, Emporiki Autokiniton was mentioned as manufacturer of Alfasuds, for example it is mentioned as such in this Greek article about cars assembled in Greece: Link to "www.penna.gr" and after all modest info. about Greek assembly of Alfasuds is also on en.Wikipedia - here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_industry_by_country I can't give you titles of scientific literature about it (like I can do with mermaids ) and sure, it can be also all wrong, but as you can see, informations about Greek Alfasuds exist. |

Someone most probably mixed up production of Alfa 33 1.2's with Alfasud engine with production of Alfasuds. Then it spread.. There's another site which explains how they made about 1500 33's with the flat four 1.2 engine from CKD's, that line lasted about a year. Lots of Greek words in there https://www.enetpress.gr/alfa-romeo-made-in-greece/ There's also this already mentioned by s13a http://hellenicmotorhistory.blogspot.com/2019/08/h-alfa-romeo.html again A33 1.2 production line. So it's 2 against 2 |

Tried to find name of Greek company which assembled ARs 33 and I couldn't or translator translates this name too and I didn't "detect" it in text. Anyway by the place where Greek 33s were assmebled (suburbs of Athens or close to Athens) and other cars made there next to 33s (Opels, Mazdas), I bet it had to be Emporiki Autokiniton too. The fact that it could be the very same company works in favour of version with mistake - that Alfasud for some strange reasons was confused with 33. |
