Or Strada in HK (as other English language and/or RHD markets)?? |

Others in HK movies are listed as Ritmo, but may be wrong... Needs investigations |

There's still a Fiat dealership in Hong Kong? |

I've done a quick search but there isn't much about Ritmos sold in HK. However, the most local sites talking about the model refer to its as Ritmo and not as Strada. So I guess their version was called Ritmo despite being rhd, as it was in Ireland. |

The site is working http://www.fiat.com.hk/en/ It seems they sell the Freemont and the 500, this one always pictured in the LHD North American version on the site, but I guess they rather import the EU version... |

I was very close, I thought that were selling only 500/C/X when reality is even worse than what I expected. I bet that for all 2016 they've sold less Freemonts than Ferraris in a month. And I guess too that the website has been written in Italy. -- Last edit: 2017-01-26 11:21:45 |

The only dealer listed is this one https://www.facebook.com/pages/Swire-Motors-Service-Center/204394149709215 : according to the brochure of the 500, it has two showrooms in Hong Kong and Macau. The Fiat HK site provides also links for scheduling test drives and getting quotes, so it seems that, at least for now, the sales are somehow active. Jeep seems to have a separate network for now: http://www.jeep.com.hk/en/shopping-tools/find-dealer/ Anyway, the 500 seems really to be the North American one by the technical specs (1.4 Multiair engine with 100 HP). If so, it would be curious, because I didn't know they assembled also RHD versions in Mexico. And anyway there is some confusion because the site shows the North American version while the brochure the European one. And always with LHD. -- Last edit: 2017-01-26 11:43:18 |

Four post on Facebook of which the last one was in 2014 for what appears to be a workshop in a very grim/industrial area, that place must really be a hive of activity! Looking on Google there's also a grey drab office building listed as Fiat dealer, with some nameless showrooms on ground floor, so probably they're still open for business, but I guess that the've sold more cars to foreign expats than Hongkongers. I always thought too that RHD models were assembled in Europe only. The Multiair engines for sure are produced also in Europe (if not only here), so probably they uses the NA version for the engines, but still everything assembled in Poland, I suppose. |

The 1.4 Multiair is produced also at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Engine_Alliance in Dundee, MI, for Mexican-sourced 500s. It would be really curious if they would mix a Polish-built body with an US-engine or that they ship purposely the engines (which are made also in Termoli) to Tychy to assemble an unique version for a such small market, considering that no other model produced there uses this unit. Moreover, I think that there would be required some modifies to the drivetrain to fit the engine, like the American 500 has. EDIT: the engine could be also the 1.4 FIRE used in Europe before the TwinAir, but also in this case it would be an unique version because it doesn't seem to be sold anymore in other countries. -- Last edit: 2017-01-26 13:18:21 |

Erroneous and/or outdated promotional material? I can't think of anything else. Let's see if they've a email address. |

Surprised if sold as Ritmo in Ireland - I thought the renaming to Strada was a general policy across (most) English-speaking markets because Ritmo is such an odd-sounding word. HK was bi-lingual (or multi-lingual) so less of an issue to keep Ritmo. |

As I know, Volkswagen has production line in Southeast Asia countries, like Malaysia and Indonesia. Therefore, there're still some VW cars sold in Hong Kong, and other Asian countries. But for Fiat, basically no production line is found in Asia, and all are imported from Europe. That's why the sales of Fiat is very poor in Asian countries, including Hong Kong (Also rarely found in Japan and South Korea). All Fiat car models are rare in Hong Kong, including 500/C/X. And Freemonts too: basically you cannot see Freemont in Hong Kong, but Ferrari cars can (That means Ferrari is more common than Freemonts). In older day because of influence of UK, Hong Kong had introduced some Fiat cars. But Hong Kong people don't think Fiat has any value, and nearly no Fiat cars are preserved by Hong Kong people. These are examples: 1. This Fiat was used as a car driven by robbers: /vehicle_632080-Fiat-125-125A-1969.html 2. This 132 was finally crashed onto the hillslope: /vehicle_717747-Fiat-132-1977.html 3. This Fiat was regarded as an old and shabby car: /vehicle_807496-Fiat-131-Mirafiori-Sport-131B2-1978.html In Hong Kong, one big problem is the cost of using European cars is higher. So the well-known European brands of cars in Hong Kong are mainly luxury models, like Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, and Rolls-Royce. BMW & VW Golf are sold as high-performance cars: special market positioning. Also as I said before, Hong Kong people nowadays only like Japanese goods (you can see many taxis, vans, etc, are Toyota). Since 1980s, the sales of Fiat cars has dropped sharply, and seriously defeated by Japanese cars. Then nearly no Hong Kong people mentioned Fiat, when talking about cars. P.S. I have seen this Fiat car once in Hong Kong, a long time ago: /vehicles.php?make=Fiat&model=Multipla&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on And it's my only time to see such car (the car was driven by an Indian ). |

Also Jeep is also rare in Hong Kong. You should know why: Jeep is an American brand. If in mainland of China, Jeep is more popular than Hong Kong: http://www.jeep.com.cn/ I checked that nearly 100% of Jeeps are assembled in China. However, for people in mainland of China, they prefer this brand more: http://www.maserati.com.cn/maserati/cn/zh They used such brand to show off themselves. |
