Short wheelbase with shiny hubcaps. First seen in Mombasa at start of film ![]() ![]() ![]() ... then Nairobi 14-15 onwards - main and ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seems there were 4 Royal Review Land Rovers built 1953-54 intended for the Royal Commonwealth Tour and known as "State I/II/III/IV" (State III info from Bonhams auction), but may have been earlier as well (see Comments entry here - /vehicle_1007646-Land-Rover-80---Series-I-L31-1948.html ). Nice TrueScales model says 1954 88" Series I. 71BP01 doesn't match anything Kenyan but might be UK RAF Transport combination - possibly another royal fleet toy brought from UK on the Britannia?? |

I found this...State Cars; 1953 Land Rover Series I 1997cc 'State IV' http://nice-reg.co.uk/number-plates/royal-53.html 71BP01 possibly looks to be post 1949 Army registration to me. |
