HMH 183 was issued Middlesex - most sources say Sept 52 to Nov 53 "allocated in blocks", but seems that was a re-issue (possibly for motorbikes) and it was originally from May 1938 for WD (War Dept) "armoured vehicles". Unusual for a series to be run twice ....

This Universal Carrier, unlike the other similar listing has both a normal 'civilian' registration and a military registration number (prefix 'T' for tracked vehicles). It suggests the military registration was added when all later vehicles were registered with the numbers used in wartime; either after 1939 or post-BEF Dunkirk?

Military (Army) numbers - tracked vehicles T2621-T2830 originally were allocated registration numbers HMH174-HMH383

Other 'civilian' registrations originally used on Army vehicles look to be as follows, these may also have been re-used later
BMM113-CMM999
