Riley Elf or Wolseley Hornet ? Does the rear script on the right say "Elf" ? |

The diamond badge on the boot lid is Riley, the experts will be along soon for MkII or III. |

I watched this film recently and wondered whether it was a coincidence, that in the Cyril Frankel film, "The Witches," Joan Fontaine's school mistress character drives an Elf with the same colour scheme into the village of "Heddaby," (actually Hambleden in Buckinghamshre). In "Hampstead," Diane Keaton's character cycles into Hambleden which then cuts (by film magic) to Turville a few miles away, where the brief scene with the Elf is filmed. A bit of a stretch I'll admit but it left me wondering if this was an "in" construct by the film makers and/or car owner. |
