Three Studebaker wagon models in 1956: Pelham (6 cylinder), Parkview (V8), and President Pinehurst (V8) This one does not look fancy enough to be a Pinehurst, especially since it appears to have painted headlamp rings. May be no way to distinguish Pelham from Parkview. |

One of the very few aspects of postwar Studebaker styling cues that I have not been able to get a real handle on is the headlamp rims of '56 Champions and Commanders. I have seen them in illustrations both painted and chromed. Do not know if chroming was an option or if all Champions and Commanders had painted rims early in the model year and were switched to chrome later on during 1956. Any info on this would be welcomed! Tim is correct about Pelham and Parkview wagons. They carried the same exterior styling. Would need to see the nameplates to distinguish. The Pinehurst, by contrast, carried President style side trim which the subject car does not appear to have. |
