Looks pretty much like an SS 100 to me, although it doesn t seem to have the typical mesh in the radiator grille, the hood/roof seems to be set much further back, and the angle of the windscreen is not raking back as much... but the door, hinges, fenders, headlights, dash curves, etc, are all unmistakebly SS90/100 |

I hesitate to argue, but the radiator grille bothers me. I'm not sure this is an SS at all. AC? No, no mascot. Aston Martin? Lea-Francis?  |

I'm worried, too. Apart from the grille it looks OK up to the widscreen. But the rest seems wrong. The picture is too poor to be certain about the details - such as three(?) door hinges and door handles(?) - but the distance from the door to the rear wing seems too great. The best photos of an SS 100 are here: http://www.ss100.com/ I know they are kit cars but they are highly accurate in size and external details. |

SS 1 Open Tourer as here (top picture) I believe.![[Image: ss100lia2.6103.jpg]](http://pics.imcdb.org/0is169/ss100lia2.6103.jpg) Grill, headlight mountings, windscreen, door hinges and length of body behind the door all look the same to me. The length behind the door is made more difficult to see because of the high contrast has washed out the detail of the rear wing's leading edge I think. |

Possibly I cannot say, as without other details I would have trouble knowing the differences between SS 1 or SS 2. Headlamp size is something also that concerns me but I would hope somebody can give a more expert opinion? -- Last edit: 2007-09-24 16:10:06 |

SS I or SS II.... brochure dating from 1935. http://www.jag-lovers.org/brochures/ss35cat.html The illustrations (not photographs) for SS I or SS II are identical except for bonnet length and number of louvres. Low underslung chassis is specified for both SS I and SS II. As the louvres are not seen, judging the bonnet length is not easy, but I tend to think its shorter rather than long. Also if the illustrations are correct for wing shape/running board/door the SS II is the better match. Headlamp diameter is larger for the later cars, also the track increased in 1934.
