Uncle Monty's (Richard Griffiths) car. I love the scene where Withnail and Marwood barge into the tearooms after having two pints and a quadruple whisky each in the pub. Withnail demands "the finest wines available to humanity". The proprietor asks them to leave. They then say that they are multimillionaires and that they will buy the place and fire them, "We shall buy this place and install a fucking jukebox in here and liven all you stiffs up a bit!" Withnail declares. Just before the proprietor is about to call the police, Monty pulls up outside in the Rolls. "It's all right!" says Marwood "We're going, our car has arrived!" -- Last edit: 2013-08-09 15:38:27 |

Nubar Gulbenkian ordered at least 10 Rolls Royces, mostly from Hooper. He could easily afford it. The glass top Silver Wraith is another one, as is a Silver Cloud Sedanca de Ville by Panelcraft shown on RRAB-site. |

The one-off Silver Wraith with transparent top features prominently in "Les Felins" (1964). -- Last edit: 2009-01-13 20:44:25 |

Sorry I was out shopping ;o) This is chassis #ALW47, Hooper body 9889 to design 8359, originally registered NSG2 - it belonged to Nubar Sarkis Gulbenkian, the oil magnate. It is now reg'd XYJ402. It's been for sale at Frank Dale's for quite some time (POA !) It has lizard skin on door cappings and dashboard. -- Last edit: 2009-08-04 09:17:38 |

Saw this car at Goodwood Revival today! Funnily enough I just watched Withnail and I again yesterday (which helped me recognise this). At this point it was raining quite a bit so it had its roof panel attached over the front seating section. -- Last edit: 2011-09-19 00:07:08 |
