1999 VehiCROSS in "Astral Silver Metallic" |

This montrosity makes the Aztek look sort of good looking. |

I'd have to disagree. The Aztek was a freak-of-nature, while the VehiCross was more like a Pug, it was a lovable SUV, no matter how it looked, and the Aztek made this thing look like an Alfa Romeo in comparison (if you use the Top Gear analogy of Alfa Romeo, of course). I, for one, love the VehiCross, and wish they did sell it in the convertible and 4 door versions that were shown in LA back in '01, I think. |

I find the Aztek much better looking (but on the other hand, I am amongst the few that do not find the Aztek ugly) |

I remember liking the VehiCROSS when it first came out. Was quite disappointed that they never sold it here. |

I actually love the VehiCROSS and I like the Aztek as well (the later models with body-colored plastics) The thing about the VehiCROSS is that it is a true 4x4 and is very capable off-road as it shares it's chassis and drivetrain with the Trooper. |

I like the VehiCROSS and Aztek too. VehiCROSS had an electronic center coupling like the Explorer and Expedition. Which is no surprise as BorgWarner designed the 4x4 systems for those vehicles. They share the same basic operation. They all have sensors for steering input, throttle input, brake input, and both front and rear prop shafts (it compares their rotational speeds). The electronic center coupling in the VehiCROSS could send up to 50 percent of torque to the front wheels, while the electronic center coupling for the Ford SUVs could send almost 100 percent. None of these full-time 4x4 systems suffered from torque reduction like those fitted with conventional center differentials. |

ahh Isuzu's trusty Torque-on-Demand® (TOD) |

Ford (for whatever reason) didn’t want Torque-on-Demand as the name, so when the new UN105 (Explorer) went into production in 1994 for the 1995 model year, the TOD system was named ControlTrac. It appears Isuzu went with BorgWarner’s name, instead of opting for its own trade name. |

hmmm, I never knew that, I thought that TOD was Isuzu's trademarked name for the BorgWarner unit. |

I love these things... I really want to buy one some day soon. I have seen 2 in real life... A silver one was in a local body shop because it backed into something and busted its tailight out. And I saw a Yellow one at a local store... The yellow one was modified and had a bumper sticker that said "If i wanted a HUMMER, I'd call your sister" |
