If this footage is from the 2014 Spa Classic at Spa-Francorchamps as I suspect, #37 is a 1965 Bizzarrini 5300 GT: Link to "gppau.alkamelsystems.com" https://gramho.com/media/2328227133347295148 I believe it is chassis 0293, which consistently wears #37: https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/cg/49/Bizzarrini-5300-GT-Strada.html 0293 seems to have a complicated history. It might actually have been built in 1968? In 2007 it was a yellow 1968 5300 GT America: Link to "www.ultimatecarpage.com" But in 2009 it was repainted light blue and by 2013 was regularly participating in vintage racing events, and the official Spa Classic qualifying notes call it a 1965. http://jack-koobs-de-hartog.com/blog/ia30293-b75.html - I don't know what's going on. This is getting beyond me. -- Last edit: 2020-07-26 21:28:50 |

Very messy, and no doubt lawyers are hovering somewhere in that story. So we have diddley squat chance of being able to pursue it reliably or maybe safely ... Part of the problem may be that most of Bizzarini's chassis records have been lost - only the first 22 survive (starting at 0200 and running until mid-65) from a total of about 133 or 139 5300s of various types made until 68/69. Looking at other assorted google hits for 67/68 cars, chassis 0293 seems to sit within 1968 production numbering. If these were issued consecutively and there's no renumbering of older chassis, 1965 seems far too early within the sequence. |
