Councils all very keen on Perkins diesels which is why they liked Seddons and the Rootes stuff.

It seems that the Cummins engines stepped into what Perkins must have viewed as their fiefdom. The British Army dieselisaton seems to have used Cummins rather than the Phaser.

It makes you wonder how we all earn a living these days! I don’t think the councils run that many vehicles now, Veolia does our bins and the Mayor rides a bike! (Not true, I think there’s a black Volvo somewhere.)
Staffs County Council had some ex Army Diamond Ts for the gritting, with registrations from about 1947, all gone now.
