Why is this called Alfa Romeo Alfa 33, the second ' Alfa' can be left out I think :??:

I do not know why it is like that on the site, but lots of Alfa have "Alfa" in their model name. If you go to Alfa-Romeo website, they put "Alfa" in front of the numbers.
But it is not written on the car (as seen above). So I do not know what we should use...

Ok, I see. I would favour for the 'Alfa Romeo 33' without the extra Alfa in it. I think people often use 'Alfa 33' in speach because it shorter. But like you I do not know what the official name is....

Alfa Romeo - manufacturer
33 - model

Alfa Romeo 33 is correct I believe.

'Alfa Romeo' is very often abreviated to 'Alfa' so Alfa 33, Alfa 155, Alfa 147 is very often used but never Alfa Romeo Alfa 33.

21 000 references to "Alfa Romeo Alfa 33" on Google :D
And as I said Alfa Romeo often put "Alfa" in front of model numbers, e.g. for the 33: http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B25291.jpg

Typical...for Italians. ;)

I've got to agree all the documentation I've got (I own an Alfa) is along the lines of

"At the top of the Alfa Romeo range is the Alfa 166....."

Price lists are identified.. Alfa 147, Alfa 159, Alfa GT and so on. But the 'branding' is all 'Alfa Romeo'.

But I still think its wrong to say Alfa Romeo Alfa 33, its either Alfa Romeo 33 or Alfa 33. In none of my documentation do you see Alfa mentioned twice.

Particularry in sthe 70s and 80s, Alfa was included in model noun, some exemps: Alfa Romeo Alfa 75, Alfa Romeo Alfa 90, Alfa Romeo Alfa 6.
In the 90s, stop: Alfa Romeo 155...
The Alfa Romeo Romeo (:D) was a van on pianal and mechanic of Giulietta, then called F12. :)

This is, anyway, a 1989 restyling version.

The second Alfa repeated was only a conventional way, otherwise it could be called simply Alfa Romeo 33(the writing Alfa Romeo don't appears on body because is written already on rear hatch circle Brand logo,so was unuseful repeat Alfa twice);but exist some exceptions:if,e.g.,we say Alfa Romeo 33,wasn't intended the midsize front-wheel-drive,but the sport car used into endurances races thru '70s-'80s;for that reason,Italians when talks of cars, says"I own an Alfa 33",meanwhile of"I own an Alfa Romeo Alfa 33",'cause was enough to say Alfa--BTW,early Alfa Romeos were A.L.F.A.,originally--for evoke the Milanese Make;into advertising, could be used even either one or other form, depending how car was called on various markets(e.g.,in Australia the Alfa Romeo 164 was known as Alfa Romeo 164 Scala--an homage at well-famed-in the-world Milan city's Teatro della Scala theatre--while in Singapore only was renamed simply Alfa Romeo 168--'cause the number "4" had an unlucky meaning into Far-East Asian Countries culture);also into Italian market TV-commercials,was spoken as Alfa 33,Alfa 155,Alfa 159...All them only for questions of abreviate names, otherwise too much long to quote continuously.

PS Someone has talked about the motivation 'cause would exist an Alfa Romeo Romeo van;that's was due at fact that when Alfa Romeo launches the Giulietta(=Juliet)Sprint in 1954,will put besides "her" also "his-motorized-fiancèè"Romeo,the van(i.e.,Juliet and Romeo, such the well-known pair into a William Shakespeare's novel);when in'60s the Make launches the Giulietta's replacement, the Giulia(of which Giulietta was nicknamed way in Italian of that female name--means"little Giulia"--,so-called to mean a grown-up Giulietta, now "Mrs.",no more"Miss",so becomes Giulia, being also a common female name in Milan's city),the van(after got a Romeo 2°IInd series in late '50s)was renamed simply F11/12(related at loading rates,11.000 and 12.000 Kg.).

Why do you take all my comments made on these Alfa pages ? I was agreeing with you, it is the others that wanted to put this extra Alfa in model names, you do not have to convince me :o
