Grat find, Mackster! It says Volvo can deliver extras... also for the exterior, like a towing hook that can be fitted on a preparated place, GT striping and light alloy wheels, all of which goes perfectly with the nice design of the car to give it a sportive appearence... I guess we can call it a GT, since these were obviously original Volvo accessories. Edit: 340 or 360 just depends on the engine (1.4 litre or 2.0 litre). -- Last edit: 2008-03-14 20:39:23 |

You do have a great sense of finding the right wordts, Dsl .gif ":)") ! Snails and glaciers...  But even slow cars can manage to tow other cars.. Once we had to tow our Renault Dauphine with our Citroën 2CV 6. We managed to reach some 110 km/h on the motorway, even thoughI must admit it took some time until we were going that fast... |

@ Dynamike: Thank you, kind sir. One of the great things about imdcb is discovering which words/expressions work across the nationalities and inevitably finding out that some don't (and there have been a few). I'm impressed - the fastest I've ever got a 2CV was 65mph (=105km/h) and that was alone and without a trailer, although I did pass an old 528i and an XR3i and will always treasure the amazed drivers' faces glimpsed briefly in the mirror. -- Last edit: 2010-09-18 23:42:38 |

No, it is not allowed to tow a car on the motorway, in Holland. But we didn't know how to get the Dauphine to the garage in another way Maximal legal towing weight of the 340 and 360 (at least in Holland) is for both 1200 kgs (if the trailer has a brake) or 450 kgs (if the trailer doesn't have a brake). @ Dsl: our 2CV managed to reach 125 km/h when the temperature of the air and the engine was quite high. Once I had to make a big face by myself. I drove relaxed with my K 70 iwth 140 km/h on the Autobahn, when I saw something little entering the motorway behind me, then strongly accelerating, going on the left lane and passing me with minimum 170 km/h. It was a Morris Minor Traveller!  But it was tuned. I've heard that later on the oldtimer-market, where the Woody went, too. I've overheard the owner talking with annother guy. The following year I'd won a high-speed-competion - the Glas 1700 TS has 5hp less. |

Ooops, so it was semi-legal, what I've made with two friends in 1999. Towing exactly this specific car: /vehicle_181997-Volkswagen-K70-Typ-48-1973.html from Hull/GB to Münster.  Btw.: in Germany you are only allowed to tow a car on the motorway, when it had a breakdown there. Only to the next exit and only with max.50 km/h. Both cars has to have the hazard-lamps on and the warning-triangle has to be put in the back window of the towed car. |
