No this is well before 1960 when Jaguar Cars Limited bought Daimler. edit: BTW its a Jaguar Mark IX or similar, it needs confirming by someone who knows the model better than me. -- Last edit: 2009-06-28 14:58:51 |

one piece windshield and cut out rear wheel spat so not a Mk VII not two tone thus not a Mk VIII (Mk VIIIs were produced concurrectly with Mk VII since 1957 s but with better equipment level and in two tone colour scheme only, according to a 1956 Motor Article, though in a 1990 Classics and Sportscar article,Mk VIIIs were described only as usually two toned. I think we should go with the Motor article. what does Sunbar think?) Mk IV 1959+ -- Last edit: 2009-06-29 03:47:52 |

Info from a 1956 Motor article about a car of which production started in October of that year cannot be very reliable, I guess. Thw Mk.VIII and Mk.IX had both two-tone paint as standard, but were available in a single colour as option. In fact there is no way to see the difference between a Mk.VIII and an early Mk.IX, except for the writing on the lower right corner of the bootlid, only on the latter. But since January 1960 the Mk.IX had the bigger taillights of the XK150, and I think I see them here (but I'm no 100% sure). If so, this would be a 1960/61 Mk.IX, if not, it is a 1957-1959 Mk.VIII or a 1959 Mk.IX. |
