How are the prices today? Increased, like for the Messerschmitt and the Isetta? Recently I've read an article about a German, who wanted to have a Syrena 105. He found one in Poland (it was never sold in the DDR or here), but it wasn't easy and not really cheap. -- Last edit: 2010-11-18 18:39:31 |

Yes, prices are increasing, same way as Syrena & Warszawa prices. The Mikrus is usually more expensive to buy than Syrena. It isn't easy car to restore and own because fastly decreasing shortages of spare parts on market. I felt that hunger for parts deeply however it was beneficially for me... Few years ago I have been bought the small paper cartoon with some "coin" parts for Mikrus. It happened accidentally. I got it just because found inside the fender emblem "Mikrus" in nice condition. And the estimated price for whole cartoon was circa 18 EU only. At home I clean carefully and good photografed the rest of stuff also - plastic & rubber rings, screws, bolts, the engine's cushion, paper seals for naves, etc. - and putted one by one (solo or grouped) to web auctions. The response was amazing. I sold cartoon's content for over 200 EU. I never ever had the better gain on dealing parts. |

Aaah, it's not that bad. You just need good connections, patience and a bit luck, but not much money. So you will get everything sooner or later. Since 20 years me and my friends are autarchic self supporters, without notable spare-parts-related contacts to the maker. It works, really - and it makes more fun than the boring walk to the dealer. -- Last edit: 2010-11-19 13:24:19 |

You never should think about the stuff, you had the chance to get on junkyards, fleamarkets or at former service-garages years ago You will like to kick yourself into the ass, about what you have missed due your lack of knowledge, courage or money back then |

I thought about purchase the parts for FSO 125p/Polonez from winding up spare parts shop one time. However it should need to estabish small trading business. Sadly, the permament month cost of taxes and social insurance are too high in Poland for tiny firms, independent to acts or temporary suspension of your trade (e.g. on winter time), are "killing" you easy when transactors don't pay in time (because you must settle VAT tax according drawed-up bills of sale, as contrasted with Czech Republic when you settle VAT according payed bills of sale). And the quality of many parts for Polish cars is terrible low. So whole idea ceased. |

Why you need a business-registration? There are many private "tax-free"-dealers. Who can control it, when you have some parts-junk in your garage, cellar or in a barn outside the town, and sell it time-by-time at eBay or on oldtimer-markets? There you are only a private person, who clears up the cellar. P.S. Sure in Germany there are some strange and unlogical court-decisions about that, too. So it was decided once, that you are a business-trader (and have to pay VAT), when you have sold 27 items within 3 months - this is idiotic and out of touch with living, sure So with that reasoning, you can be accused as professional dealer, when you are just selling some stuff of a private collection or Grandmother's inherited household. But in reality you can avoid stupid question, when you are selling sporadic and always different stuff, not always the same. And the tax-police controls eBay "Power Seller" (but they aren't enough to control the whole country), too, but usually you don't have problems, when you avoid the appearance of business-like trading. -- Last edit: 2010-11-19 14:38:52 |

It's not so easy & safe in Poland as you think. Tax offices are hunting for people selling too many times on net auctions without business registration. The purchase stuff from winding up business is the easiest way to ensure the audit by tax office in close future. The Polish clerks are thinking by communist style still. You're private businessman so potential fraudster obviously. They aren't interest to your business' progress and larging taxes in future. They want to prove your fraud. Even it doesn't exist truly. -- Last edit: 2010-11-20 15:37:28 |
