Renault 12 Toros |

Or Dacia 1310 Break. |

The 1991 Dacias 1310 didn't have those large plastic bumpers and neither the side ornaments on the doors (they weren't either on the next generation of 1994). Also the front doesn't seem to have the specific Dacia mask at the headlights. Most probably it's a Renault 12 Toros, introduced in 1989-90, similar with this one (another hint: the wheel covers): /vehicle_279923-Renault-12-X17-1990.html |

This scene wasn´t filmed in Turkey, it´s either Russia or the UK. |

No UK, if you see the traffic signs in the background (mounted on the right side). Plus the fact, that these late Dacia's weren't really exported outside the COMECON-countries. And do you see the metal-fence-frame in the window behind it? This is pure COMECON-style. No kidding, such details of a house or a property-fence are still today helpful to identify on which side of The Wall the house stood before 1990 Even in Germany it's still working. |

@ingo: The GoldenEye film crew built a large outdoor set in the UK for part of the Saint Petersburg tank chase scene. IIRC, they couldn't film the whole chase on location because there was a risk that the weight of the tank would have caused cracks in gas pipes just under the road surface. -- Last edit: 2011-04-07 19:07:37 |

But just for that scene they wouldn't have chosen a late plastic-bumper-Dacia or a Turkish made Renault 12 - two cars, which were normally never to see outside of their countries- just as a background car, or? Otherwise: even in Russia both cars would be more than rare... -- Last edit: 2011-04-07 19:12:38 |

They did use a Plymouth (yes, Plymouth) Horizon. /vehicle_18334-Plymouth-Horizon-TC3-1981.html Also: /vehicle_18325-Lada-Niva-2121-1977.html P.S. They might have that that Dacias were common in Russia. -- Last edit: 2011-04-07 19:20:14 |
