One of my favorite British cars. Actually we have many mistakes about here. Facelift for 1951 MY cars occured few changes: - The front position lamps with clear lenses under headlights came as standard. Actually some 1949+ cars - e.g. Monte Carlo racer of that year - had it already. (There's great possibility this lights became standard for 1950 cars. When we compare 1949 and 1950 nicely restored cars, the 1950 samples usually have postion lights already, 1949 haven't). - The grille loose five horizontal bars (now 15 instead 20) and good visible vertical one. - The circular hood ornament ceased, now just plain slat with horizontal'wing-shaped JOWETT-JAVELIN letters. - The rear registration plate and its light went down from bootlid to bumper. Two small tail lamps with positon & STOP lights (instead one central 'beacon' STOP lamp under plate). - Overriders got different shape. Standard colours available for 1948 were only two - black with brown interior (cloth or leather) and golden sand with brown cloth or red leather interior. For 1952 were four - black, metallic beige, metallic grey and metallic maroon. Perfect sample of 1947-1949 car. It's part of this prospect. Tail for 1947-1950 and 1951-1953, precisely 1952. Front end for 1947-1950 cars. And sample of 1951-1953. All diferences are nicely grouped here: http://www.simoncars.co.uk/jowett/javelin.html -- Last edit: 2011-04-25 14:55:56 |

Beyond the Javelin, probably a 1955 Rover 75, Lambretta LD obscuring the rear end of a Popular(?) and another 300E van. |
