Was it really C115? Or were they still using "W" for all the cars of the 115 series? |

W114 ..all the W114/115 coupes are 6cyl W114 |

Fuel injected W114 models were not imported in the US. This is a 280C. |

it gets destroyed in this scene. It's crammed in-between the chevette and the civic |

I don't know... this car makes me think of a Citroën Dyane. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Citroen_Dyane_6.jpg |

It is because the grille is already crushed, but it is well the Mercedes I think |

The back of the car doesn't look like that of a Mercedes. But now, I don't think it's a Citroën, because the small side window near the back is missing. -- Last edit: 2014-08-21 20:46:43 |

Early Dyanes had a solid rear pillar without 3rd window ..... but Dyanes were fabric roof and not sold in US. I'm sure it's a Merc as ID'd - see night cub's picture ^^^ - and in the photo of it getting really crumpled the distinctive roof seams. |

Look: the rear is different. |

The rear may be destroyed due to a crash; in the movie it must be more visible what it is, rather than just analysing one captured frame. -- Last edit: 2014-09-12 15:32:44 |

(I was "Harlan B. Hollis".) Okay, you may be right!... But I still have one last hypothesis: it COULD be a Dyane. Here's why: in the DVD audio commentary for The Junkman, it is said that Halicki went to France and came back with the Citroëns (DS 19, DS 21, SM, Station Wagon) seen in that movie. He could've also brought back a Dyane and wrecked it for this one. -- Last edit: 2015-06-05 21:32:21 |

I have some doubts about this anecdote, as the Citroëns used in that movie are US versions... |

I guess it IS a Mercedes: I took a closer look, and the rear DOES seem wrecked. Plus, taking account of the Dyane's "fabric roof"... -- Last edit: 2015-06-07 02:12:24 |

Really? Because the audio commentary guys (Director of Photography TONY SYSLO and Production Manager JACK VACEK) said Halicki brought them back after going to a screening of Gone in 60 Seconds in France. EDIT: Whoops! My mistake: They actually say he went to a screening in France, but he didn't get the Citroens from there: he was just influenced by the French touring clubs, and bought them in the USA. -- Last edit: 2015-06-07 02:13:46 |
