This is a 4903/4905. This series had a 'hidden' tag axle available that was mounted in the storage bin infront of the rear axle. It could be lowered and used as needed for weight restrictions. Thie 4903/4905 series were 40 foot busses and part of GM's swan song in bus building. They were displaced by MCI coaches on Greyhound Lines. Detroit V8-71's with 4spd stick, or a lackluster 3spd auto. Angle drive in back, engine mounted crosswise as were most GM busses. |
