Not a lot to identify on the green car or this other car.... I will delete them if there is too little to identify them. |

Do not delete this one too quickly. It is a car of historical interest ,a British Talbot London 14/45 Brooklands Replica 3 litre " 105" of 1931.It is based on the 3 litre Talbot " 105" which came second in its class in the 1931 handicap Double -Twelve hours race at Brooklands ( night raccing was naot allowed at Brooklands) driven by B. Lewis and J.Hindmarsh. The Lewis /Hindmarsh car averaged more than 77 mph.Should be classified under the Talbot London make.We will have to carefully re-classify english and french Talbots on this site. |

Saying things like "it is impossible to identify" is a trick to find somebody that can identify it Thanks for the info on the car |

Is the make really "Talbot London" btw? Even if it is not the same company as the French one, I thought that the cars were sold under "Talbot" make by both companies. |

The badge of this car is Talbot London and encyclopedias file it under Talbot GB 1903-1938 , factory Clément Talbot Ltd North Kensington London W10.The french Talbots are usually filed under Talbot-Darracq for the cars 1920-1959 ( Surresnes factory) and Darracg for the cars older than 1920. |

From the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq Register's website: "in 1919, Darracq took over English Talbot and the resulting company merged in 1920 with Sunbeam to form the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq group which quickly came under the strong influence of the personality and ideas of Sunbeam's Breton director, Louis Coatalen. From late 1921 and the introduction of the Louis Coatalen inspired 1½ litre ohv Type DB, the Suresnes built cars were renamed as Talbot in France, although still badged as Darracq when imported into Britain." English Talbots continued to be built at Barlby Road in London. You can read the somewhat tangled history of these three marques at http://www.stdregister.org.uk/ The particular car in the photo is an English Talbot. -- Last edit: 2012-02-29 16:09:43 |
