This pre-dates the Borderer by many years - it's a Mk.1 cabbed tractor, probably a T946X. Since this clip is dated 1964, it almost certainly predates the similar-looking 1964 'Silver Knight' model, shown at Earls Court in 1964, and with new model nomenclature. The operator was the very well-known fleet of Russell's of Bathgate, by that time a subsidiary of Transport Development Group. The company was abosrbed into TDG over the years, but a member of the Russell family went on to found John G Russell Transport in Hillington, today one of Scotland's premier operators. |

The new cab was exhibited for the first time in September 1958 on an eight-wheeler at the Commercial Motor Show, although the tractors possibly had the new cabs later. So possible earliest date is 1959 model year. |
