I know the owner who had the car when this was filmed later sold it on. i understand it went from York to the Bristol area. Even if I knew more, I wouldn't want to put it on a very public forum with so many Classic Car thefts these days. If I needed to know, I might contact Stephen Wickham through the Ford Classic and Capri Owners Club and ask if he would pass my contact details on to the present owner. |

DVLA engine details suggest GT, but does not have GT badges on rear wing or rear panel to make it genuine. |

The car is a genuine G.T. it has the correct 'CAPRI GT' badge on the rear panel. Ford did not fit any GT badges on the rear wings of Capris. If you see a Capri with Cortina GT shields on the back wings it is probably a fake GT. |

Glad we've got a confirmed example. Is body colour rear panel also a genuine GT-only indication? Any other clues? Point taken about GT wing badges not being original, but could be later additions to existing GTs as much as fake GTs. BTW have discovered since previous comment re DVLA details of engine size that all Consul Capris became 1500cc from July 62 with code 116E, not just the Feb 63 onwards GT. Previous 1340cc code was 109E. Presumably both had different codes for LHD in usual Ford practice? |

Yes 1340cc export are 110E, 1500cc export are 117E. The original engine block in a GT has casting number 122E, a standard 1500cc engine would be 116E or 120E casting number. -- Last edit: 2010-10-27 19:13:19 |

I owned this car in 1985..!! Just bored at work and googled the registration. Came up with this thread. Amazing. It certainly was a genuine GT with a 1500 cross flow engine. The interior was very tatty when i bought her and i had intended a restoration. However i was only 18 at the time (the car was older than me..!!) and couldn't really afford to do anything bar put petrol in it. I was a member of the Ford Classic/Capri owners club and showed her at the Bromley Pagent of Motoring.... I'll dig out a photo and post, if anyone's interested. I'm most pleased that the registration has stayed with the car. |

PREcrossflow Martin. |

In seen this episode, the car belonged to Rosie's deranged ex-boyfriend who was stalking and harassing her and had assaulted David. |

Hi Ian, It was certainly had a 1500 engine and I was told that it was a crossflow. Whether it was supposed to be or whether it actually was or not i've no idea..!! |

Cross flow engines not fitted by the factory until 1967, well after this model was deleted in July 1964. The 1500cc pre cross flow engines had 5 main bearings and were a better job altogether than the 1340cc that the Consul Classic started its run with. There was no cross flow 1500cc engine, capacity being raised to 1600cc for use in the facelift Mk2 Cortina and the later style of Capri. -- Last edit: 2015-12-07 19:28:14 |

dsl.... Glad we've got a confirmed example. Is body colour rear panel also a genuine GT-only indication? Any other clues? No, all Capris changed to painted rear panel when Hailwood took over production (from Dagenham) at the start of 1963, (most production was done by Pressed Steel at Cowley, Ford just fitted the mechanicals). |
