Hmm...that criss crossed grille say me 1959-1965 built(in 1962 becomes only 1300 Sprint, without Giulietta) PS Into 2nd photo on the back of car was visible a small tag on the right of plate panel that says"1300",so should be the 1962 Alfa Romeo 1300 Sprint -- Last edit: 2007-01-04 21:39:15 |

Put into year field 1963,'cause in 1962 the Giulietta Sprint was renamed(besides Giulia Spider)for one year only as Giulia Sprint(1.6 lt.DOHC of Giulia TI),and in 1963 return with usual 1.3 DOHC of debut and renamed, this time,1300 Sprint -- Last edit: 2007-01-08 20:32:46 |

So no great mystery, it's just that no one exactly knows what it is ![]() So I suggest we go with what is visible here (bodywork/1300 badge/aligned dash gauges) which is a 1964-65 "1300 Sprint"** as it was called by then. From above link: "...The history of the Sprint probably goes back to 1960, but when the car was imported to the Netherlands in 1985, the RDW made it built in 1955. Impossible, Mark knows, since the Giulietta looked very different in the mid-1950s. Let's just say that at that time the RDW did not take the origin of mobile immigrants very seriously... car ended up in Oosterbeek in the 1990s, with someone who visited a few events in Zandvoort and Assen...acquired the car in 1996. Under the hood, Mark is still waiting for a surprise: the Sprint is equipped with a powerful 1600 engine with double overhead camshafts and a five-speed gearbox..." **Better call this a Giulietta Sprint 1300 as it will be lost if we omit the Giulietta name at least until a few others are verified -- Last edit: 2023-12-04 00:00:27 |
