Introduced in 1948 it came as a medium weight rigid, and swb tractor which replaced the Horla. It used the Willenhall Motor Radiator Co's cab, but not many built. -- Last edit: 2015-03-15 08:21:41 |

The Willenhall cab was being fitted by Dennis in 1954. Can anybody confirm that 'OGT509' in the above link is from Sept-1953 to June-1954? Shell-Mex/BP used Dennis at the time and this could be one of the first of this model for publicity purposes, they also had converted chinese-six Centaurs. -- Last edit: 2015-03-15 13:57:03 |

Glass's gives OGT xxx series as London issue Sept 53 to Dec 54 "allocated in blocks"; http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/gt.htm just says SEP 1953 onwards without end date. "Allocated in blocks" is typical for major fleets, especially related to government. |

Thank you dsl, I'm happy now that this was probably a publicity photo for Dennis shortly after the model's introduction. edit: An April 1955 Road test has Shell-Mex/BP's 'OGT 502' also with the Willenhall cab which according to the article was an option to the normal coachbuilt cab. Good spot Sunbar , don't think Dennis would have occurred to me , although I know a lot of people used this cab. |

^ The credit for the identification goes to johnfromstaffs in this case, JCB! I was completely unaware of this truck but it proved to be another bit of interesting bit of history. |
