First run through I thought Post Office Telephones - with some plausible writing on cab door. But there's no pole or wires in the air. Then I thought tree-cutting (maybe council or even London Transport for bus clearance). But he's definitely doing something with wires - see coils on the ground. Best remaining answer I can think of is taking down Xmas lights - it's from the MG TD run to Val d'Isere which was January 1950. |

The rear and sides are the same as the Albion 30cwt Post Office Telephones lorry in use from the 1930s. Some like the preserved vehicle were either sold or still in use in 1950. These were made for GPO telephones with a custom built bodywork. edit: picture added showing rear tail-board and step identical to the movie vehicle. One of 1,271 utilities of the same basic specification bought between 1927 and 1939. http://www.britishtelephones.com/vehicles/specialist/010.htm Another appearance of the same Albion 30cwt in Poirot The Morris-Commercial T2 1-Tonner is less likely I think. -- Last edit: 2015-08-03 11:40:52 |
