By the bumpers. The 240Z has the small bumpers, there were a couple different styles. An Unusual Eye knows them the best. I'm still trying to figure them out. There were two different bumpers for the 260Z (which was only sold for 1974 model year, the year the bumpers standards went up to 5 MPH). They started with the small bumpers with larger bumper guards, then switched to the large bumpers that were also used on the 1975-76 280Z. The larger bumpers also moved the parking lights from below the bumper to the grill. |

she's an early one. this first style of bumper (of 5 versions that the S30 cars wore in the duration of the U.S. market run) lasted from the beginning of production in 1969 through the end of the 1972 model year. in this case though, based on the vents below the rear window in the hatch panel, we can limit production to those made before the end of the 1970 calendar year. she's either a 1970 or an early 1971 model. |
