 It actually was possible for some years after the introduction of the new A-suffix registrations, to re-register with a newer registration. Later it was stopped and it is now only allowed to use the same-age or an older registration.

The car was manufactured between October 1956 and October 1962, by the sidelights without turn-indicators, (plus the one-piece windscreen and later grille). The 1098cc engine rather than the correct 998cc unit could be due to it being replaced at some time.

My guess would be late 1962 model year but not possible to be definite without a clearer view. So 'model year 1957' is right I think.

 This car was supplied by our company. It is a 1963 Minor 1000, the "A" registration being issued when new. The car is completely original specification and was one of the first 1098cc models which also had flashing indicators fitted within the small lights and still retained the earlier wiper pattern. It was used in many film productions during its long career and also features in Morris Minor books such as "Original Morris Minor" etc.
